Snowden: 'Nobody should use Facebook'

Society, TechnologyMBC TimesComment

The American journalist and founder of 'The Intercept', Glenn Greenwald,  explained why Snowden is not registered in Facebook. "No one should use Facebok" he recommends.

Glenn Greenwald, author of articles in the Guardian (US) regarding the documents leaked by Edward Snowden and the founder of 'The Intercept', participated this week in a Q & A in Canada, in which he explained why his colleague and former employee of NSA does not have a Facebook account.

"This is one of the worst violators of privacy in history," Greenwald said during the presentation. And rightly so. "Nobody should use Facebook," he added.

The reporter noted that in Russia, Snowden can still follow his normal life, since the country allowed him to continue his public life and reveal more facts about the US surveillance. "Edward became an important voice in the debate that he helped to catalyze, so he is very happy," Greenwald said.

Facebook is known, among other things, to control everything their users share and do, and where they are. Basically nothing get deleted or 'forgotten'. The demands of the global social network for access to personal information and censorship are increasing surveillance. Previously, Snowden lashed Dropbox and other services, including Facebook, because they violate the privacy which he pointed as one of the main points of global spying today.

Fetish model Kelly Lee Dekay shocks the world

PeopleMBC TimesComment

She is not the first but her pictures are revolutionizing the social media all over the world. Kelly Lee Dekay's 16 inch waist looks TINY, but there's an even smaller, incredible world record.

The 27-year-old blue-haired Kelly Lee Dekay from New York started 'waist training' seven years ago and made achieving an hourglass figure her lifelong obsession informing the mirror magazine. Inspired by the sultry singer from Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Marvel superheroine 'Storm', the busty fetish model has shrunk her waist to a eye-watering 16 inches using a steel boned tight-laced corset.

Kelly, who studies fashion, explained:

"Growing up I just loved the exaggeration of styles and the beautiful costumes that comic book characters would wear and that led to the aesthetic that led to tight-lacing."
"I understand their measurements can't ever possibly be achieved because they would break but I think it's interesting how fabric and thread can just easily manipulate the body to do such an extreme silhouette."

Already since she was young, Kelly was a tomboy, and says that corset training helped her overcome childhood shyness.

She said:

"As a little girl I was very shy and I loved the way comic books portrayed the characters."
"I liked that Batman is actually Bruce Wayne but when he puts on the batsuit it allows him to become this vigilante."
"He was the same person but the different outfit allowed him to channel a different side of himself."
"I've always loved how certain pieces of garments gave you permission to let out certain parts of you. So I think that's what tight lacing does for me."
"I wanted to become my own super hero villain."

But waist-training is not without it's problems, and Kelly does struggle with some physical tasks. She said:

"The corset can be restrictive when going up the stairs. You can't carry too many heavy things because you could hurt yourself.

"I actually did hiking in my corset and that's very dangerous."
"I also played soft ball in a corset once, that was an interesting feeling, but I don't go to the gym in a corset - that's really dangerous because I do weight lifting."
"But if I do want to do something extreme, I don't limit myself. If I have to be out of my corset, then I'm out of it."

But despite the limitations, Kelly has no plans to hang up her corset, despite facing some negative comments online. She said:

"I get mixed reactions. Some people really love it, some people really hate it, but I always did it for myself - I didn't really do it for people's reactions."
"People say that it looks unnatural, but I have big bright blue hair - what part of me screams I want to be like everybody else?"

Girl plans to sex bed different man in every city she visits

SocietyMBC TimesComment

Promiscuous Ju Peng, 19, is looking for 'temporary boyfriends' who must be 'good looking, under 30, taller than 1.75 metres and, of course, rich'.

A woman on a tour of China is planning on paying for the trip by hooking up with - and bedding - a different man in every city she visits.

The promiscuous 19-year-old - known only as Ju Peng of Shanghai - posted an ad to Chinese microblogging site Weibo looking for "temporary boyfriends" who must be "good looking, under 30, taller than 1.75 metres and, of course, rich".

But her controversial trip has sparked a social media frenzy, with some accusing her of prostituion.

Ju said: "They will fund my transport to their city and all my expenses while I am there and they need to be generous.

"In return, they get a whole night with me, my undivided attention, and a chance to show themselves off in the company of a truly beautiful girl."

Ju says she has already travelled all over eastern China using the controversial method and wants to see the rest of the country, but does not have enough money to fund it herself.

She said: "It is sort of like hitchhiking. It's nothing to be ashamed of."

But critics say the deal is prostitution and have called for the ad to be taken down.

One Weibo user Hsin Tao said: "If she was taking cash we'd all know what to call her. This is a disgusting way to carry on."

Niqab veiled Muslim woman kicked out of a famed opera house in Paris

SocietyMBC TimesComment

France takes the ban of the full-face Islamic veil in public places very seriously. recently a veiled muslim woman was kicked out of a famed Paris opera house after cast members refused to perform in her covered presence.

Cast members performing the opera La Traviata “objected strongly” to the presence of a woman in the audience wearing a niqab-type veil, who was seated in the front row. A singer didn’t spot the woman until the second act of the show, which was when several performers said they didn’t want to sing until she was removed from the Bastille Opera house, according to the Daily Mail.

The show’s director Jean-Philippe Thiellay confirmed the woman was kicked out of the venue, a move supported by France’s ban on Muslims covering their face in public. The law has been in effect in the socialist country since 2011.

Muslim women who reside in and around Paris found in violation of the law are typically given a fine; however, this is the first known incident of someone being ejected from an artistic venue. Thiellay said the security guard told the offender that in France there is a ban of this nature, before he asked her to either uncover her face or leave the auditorium.

This incident, which originally took place on October 3 but has only recently been publicized, has brought about a toughening of France’s so-called “burka ban.”  France’s Ministry of Culture said it would “produce a new set of rules” to insure the ban was strongly enforced in theaters, museums and other public institutions.

France, which is home to some five million Muslims, was the first European country to ban the full-face Islamic veil in public places.

Brittany Maynard will die on November 1

PeopleMBC TimesComment

A terminally ill 29-year-old woman has chosen November 1 as the day she will die.

Shortly after her wedding in 2013, Brittany Maynard began experiencing debilitating headaches.

While on vacation with her husband in January, Brittany was diagnosed with grade II Astrocytoma, a severe brain tumor. Doctors told her she had 10 years left to live.

“I have to tell you,” she says in the video, “when you’re 29 years old, being told you have that kind of timeline still feels like being told you’re going to die tomorrow.”

Following the original diagnosis, doctors said her cancer had progressed to Glioblastoma multiforme, the deadliest form of brain cancer. After treatment, the average life expectancy is only 14 months.

When doctors told Brittany her death would likely be slow and painful as the tumor continued to grow, she opted to choose her own ending.

On November 1, surrounded by her husband, mother and best friend, she will end her life using medication prescribed by her doctor.

Maynard’s husband’s birthday is October 30.

The medication will give her a “peaceful and painless” ending to her life. However, Brittany said this is not a suicide.

“There is not a cell in my body that is suicidal or that wants to die,” Maynard told People.com. “I want to live. I wish there was a cure for my disease but there’s not. … Being able to choose to go with dignity is less terrifying.”

Maynard’s family moved with her to Oregon earlier this year so she would have access to Oregon’s “Death with Dignity Act,” which has allowed over 750 people to die using medication since 1997.

Life-rights advocacy organization Compassion & Choices and The Brittany Maynard Fund will provide Brittany a platform to share her story and bring attention to the end-of-life rights.

According to Compassion & Choices, Brittany will spend her last days fighting for others’ rights to end their lives

Scientists Release First Photos of Proof of Extraterrestrial Life

ScienceMBC TimesComment

Scientists have always pondered whether or not life exists anywhere else in the universe besides Earth. Now, researchers believe they have discovered visible proof that aliens exist, but the photos might not be what you’d expect.

Professor Milton Wainwright and his team from the University of Sheffield and the University of Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology have discovered a mysterious “dragon-shaped” organism in space, which they claim is an extraterrestrial life form, according to Express.

The organism was discovered in dust and particle matter gathered deep in the Earth’s stratosphere.

The “biological entity” is made of carbon and oxygen, which are the essential elements for all lifeforms.

Scientists insist that there’s no way the matter could have blown up into space from our planet, so it must have originated somewhere else in the universe.

The organism was discovered by sending balloons into the stratosphere to collect space particles.

“The photo shows a structure colloquially called ‘the dragon particle’ which scientific analysis shows is made of carbon and oxygen and is therefore not a piece of cosmic or volcanic dust,” Wainwright said.
“This is clearly a biology entity (about 10micron in size), although it is unclear whether it is part of a single organism or is made up of smaller, individual microbes.
“It is certainly unusual and seems to be like nothing found on Earth.
“What is amazing is that these organisms appear on the sampling stubs in an absolutely pristine condition.
“There is no pollen, grass or pollution particles found with them, or for that matter soil or volcanic dust.
“Unless a means of lifting them from Earth exists which selectively sieves them out from other Earth-derived debris then they must be incoming from space.
“This, plus the fact that some of the biological material samples by the team produce impact craters when they hit the sampler, confirms their space origin.”
“If our findings are true they will forever alter our view of life and particularly evolution on Earth and we will need to rewrite of our biology textbooks.”

The incredible discovery comes weeks after astronauts said they found traces of life on the surface of the International Space Station (ISS) which orbits Earth.

Wainwright confirmed that particles of DNA from extraterrestrial life are continuously being picked up by earthly organisms and are meshing with their genetic make up.

Obama has yet to confirm if the U.S. will begin sending the entity foreign aid and calling it an “undocumented immigrant” upon entering our Earth’s atmosphere.

Gibraltar University to open for business in September 2015

SocietyMBC TimesComment

GBC - The new Gibraltar University is set to open for business on the 1st of September 2015. This was announced at a press conference on Tuesday morning, hosted by the Chief Minister and the Minister for Education. The former St Christopher’s School will form the core hub, and the University will have four faculties; Health Studies, Business, Life & Earth Sciences, and Tourism.

The four faculties will provide a series of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in collaboration with internationally recognised universities as well as locally developed courses including courses for qualifications in Gibraltar Tax and in Gibraltar Law.

The University will also be a centre for research in key areas associated with Gibraltar’s culture, environment and heritage. It’ll also include an Institute of Professional Development and Continuing Education, which will provide courses leading to professional qualifications, continuing professional development and courses developed to meet industry needs in Gibraltar.

A further component of the University will be a language centre for the teaching of English as a foreign or business language.
During the press conference, Mr Licudi revealed plans for the development of student accommodation in order to be able to attract international students. Two sites have been identified in the Europa Point area for this.
The Government says it will continue to fund Gibraltar students who wish to study in the UK, and the Department of Education’s scholarship scheme will continue to operate as it currently does.

The Chief Minister said this was a fantastic day for Gibraltar believing the new University would bring prestige to Gibraltar and benefits to both the public and private sectors. For his part, Mr Licudi said it was hugely satisfying for the Government to see its dream of establishing a University of Gibraltar take shape.
